Fall is always a good time for us to look back on what’s been happening with our companies, the projects we’ve been involved with and reset goals for next year. At McCartney, we always strive to keep our friends and clients around the world up-to-date on our developments and projects through social media, but from time to time, we like to put pen to paper and go a little more in-depth than 140 characters allows!

Around the World in 10,000 Bites

The Mastermind behind this record-breaking event was introduced to us by MusicSupervisor.com founder and good friend Barry Coffing, back in 2015. We held a couple of Dinner With The McCartneys events, partially benefitting the Linda McCartney Breast Cancer Research fund at the Royal Liverpool Hospital, at David’s exclusive Kemah, TX restaurant, eculent and then, whilst having a discussion about our organic McCartney tea flavours, David mentioned that his winery, Clear Creek, also made dessert wines, cocktail mixers in 5 of the same flavours - and Mrs. McCartney’s Wines was born. In early 2019, Chef Skinner asked the McCartney Studios crew to fly to the Houston Natural History Museum to capture documentary footage of this stunning culinary weekend of firsts. And here’s the story:

The idea for this event started about five years ago after speaking to some of my restaurant guests at eculent about the best meals they enjoyed in different countries. I was amazed at the number of people who had not traveled much outside the United States or who did not have a good appreciation for different cultures and cuisines. While I have been very fortunate to have traveled to 6 of the 7 continents (still need to visit Antartica) over the last 30 years, I recognized the opportunity to create something that was both gastronomically unique and educational.

The idea of serving enough different bites from enough countries for the guest to actually recognize and appreciate the similarities and differences quickly flourished into an action plan, and then a test dinner with 20 bites from four countries served to 80 guests at the World Food Championship in 2016. We prepped for a week and served 1600 courses with 7 chefs in about 2 hours without the use of a restaurant kitchen. To say we learned a lot from that event is a dramatic under-statement! The success of that dinner lead to this once-in-a-lifetime culinary event where each guest journeys across 10 countries highlighting both the cultural and gastronomic uniqueness related to the common meal.

This event would not have been possible without the help of Chef David Duarte who also saw the vision and quickly jumped on board to make it a reality, and the help and passion of all our invited chefs this year. Sherri Segari of Lulu and Ruby Concepts and the generous Hotel ZaZa who let our horde of chefs invade their kitchen to prep for almost a week. All of our sponsors including Simple123.com played a crucial role and last but not least, Joel, Latha, Lisa and Ashley and the entire team at the Houston Museum of Natural Science for hosting us. Thank you to ALL. One of the first chefs to say yes was my friend Chef Dominique Crenn. As you may know, she was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and unfortunately was not able to make the event this year. We will be donating a portion of the proceeds in her name for breast cancer research. The remaining proceeds will be donated to the James Beard Foundation and their fund for Women’s Leadership.

My hope is that our diners emerge from the 10,000 Bites journey with a much richer understanding of different cultures and cuisines and a greater appreciation for what makes us all unique and wonderful. Our aim is to bring unity through food experience to an ever-dividing world.

Alana Stewart - Farrah Fawcett Foundation PSA for A&E

McCartney Studios (with fearless leader Deven Parmar at the helm), shot a PSA with Hollywood star, and President of FFF Miss Alana Stewart on behalf of the Farrah Fawcett Foundation.

The A&E channel generously donated airtime to raise awareness for HPV Cancers during the airing of "Biography: Farrah Fawcett Forever", which is a film of the celebration of the life of actress Farrah Fawcett 10 years after her tragic death on June 25, 2009.

Fawcett is still an American icon today, whose influence on pop culture has been somewhat underestimated. Farrah shocked the industry when she walked away from guaranteed success as a television sex symbol on Charlie’s Angels, and instead pursued roles against type in serious movies like "The Burning Bed" and "Extremities."

Farrah continued to defy expectations becoming an accomplished and critically acclaimed sculptor, and showing it was possible to be sexy at 50. Until the end, she lived life on her own terms, with her BFF Alana documenting her most important and impactful moments as she fearlessly battled HPV cancer in a very public and moving way.

Congrats to McCartney Sports player Nikola Cacic for his latest win and welcome to the Top 100 rankings!

McCartney Sports is a division within the Vienna based McCartney Group, GmbH. Founded 2013 in Vienna by Mag. Raimund Carl and part of the McCartney clan represented by Angie & Ruth McCartney and Martin Nethercutt. Team members won silver medals at the Rio Olympics.

In Memoriam

We have lost several stalwarts, friends and clients over the past year, and would like to pay tribute to a very special friend who was one of them.

Geoff Emerick - whose passing in October of last year was memorialized at Capitol Records, was laid to rest in recent months, and here is a photograph of his headstone, which was arranged by his good friend and musical collaborator, Bill Smith. Geoff was our longest connection to the early Beatles recordings, when he worked as an engineer with the legendary producer George Martin, and later with Paul & Linda and Wings. A true genius, and a really self-effacing gentle man.

"I wanted to let you all know that our beloved Geoff’s headstone has finally been placed at the cemetery and he is now at rest fully. It’s a lovely marker just below his dear Nicole and he is now with her once again forever. I hope that he would have approved of the design that was chosen for the marker but I can also hear him saying “what’s all the fuss about?” lol. :-)

If you would ever like to pay him a visit, as I am sure he would love to have some friends drop by from time to time. He is interred at Pierce Brothers Memorial in Westwood and I would be more than happy to accompany anyone who would like to visit him."
