So, here’s what’s fit to print and what has happened since our latest edition. Enjoy!
But first, we think congratulations are in order:

Congratulations Grammy Winner Edgar Winter!

Edgar Winter’s hard work on the 2022 all-star tribute album that he organized to honor his late brother, Johnny Winter, has been recognized by the Recording Academy. Edgar Winter and fellow producer Ross Hogarth were the recipients, on Feb. 5, 2023, of the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Blues Album for Brother Johnny. Edgar called it “a momentous and unexpected honor.” The album, released April 15, 2022, via Quarto Valley Records, features an impressive array of renowned classic rock musicians who knew, or were inspired by the legendary blues guitarist, including Joe Walsh, Ringo Starr, Billy Gibbons, Steve Lukather, Michael McDonald, Joe Bonamassa, and many more. Listen to many of the recordings, including spirited covers of such classic songs as “Johnny B. Goode,” “Jumpin’ Jack Flash,” and “Highway 61 Revisited,” below.

Introducing McCartney.ai

Light travels faster than sound.

We see before we hear.

However, when we close our eyes and there’s nothing to see, we still perceive our environment with our ears. This is why a sound or a voice can leave a deep, subconscious impression on our psyche.

We at McCartney, have worked with this sensory phenomenon for decades. Whether it’s songs, scoring or spoken voice, we have kept the underlying principles of sound in our innermost sanctum. The tone makes the voice, the sound makes the song. Everything you just listened to was completely A.I. generated. Amazing isn’t it?

So, what can we do for you?
Please advise us how we can help you with your project.

Ross Hogarth’s (Hoax Productions) website design

Van Halen, Gov’t Mule, Roger Waters, The Black Crowes, Def Leppard, The Doobie Brothers, Edgar Winter, John Mellencamp, R.E.M.and Jewel are some of the artists this Multiple Grammy-winning producer/engineer/mixer has had the joy of working with in his over four decades in the recording studio.

Ross’ wide varied experience and taste opened up all creative doors and usual and unusual possibilities. He’s never allowed himself to be pigeonholed or trapped in any one musical genre as his studio work runs the gamut from the heavy metal insanity of Motley Crue and Coal Chamber to the Grammy-winning Keb’ Mo’ release Slow Down to recent releases by Van Halen, Grammy winning Ziggy Marley and Grammy winning Taj’Mo’.

Growing up in NY during the influential punk scene of the 70’s, Ross began his musical career as a guitarist/singer/ songwriter, playing in the wild downtown New York clubs. With good fortune paving his way to California, he had the rare opportunity to hook up with both the San Francisco Bay area’s exploding New Wave music scene and Southern Cal’s seminal rock scene. Natural evolution took him from doing live production and sound on the road with Jackson Browne, David Lindley, Fleetwood Mac and Little Feat into becoming a world class producer, mixer and recording engineer.

Hoax Productions was established in 1986 as a vehicle for Ross to have the freedom to promote and produce top names as well as newly discovered talent.

TeaFlix Interview with May Pang hosted by Dr. Angie McCartney & Ruth McCartney

She was just a kid growing up in Spanish Harlem in the 1960s, the American-born daughter of Chinese immigrants who went to Catholic school, hated studying and fell in love with all things rock & roll, especially The Beatles. So when May Pang landed a gig at Apple Records, which quickly became working exclusively with John and Yoko as their full-time personal assistant, she found herself living a life beyond even her wildest dreams, all at the tender age of 19. Yet when the couples’ marriage began to disintegrate, Yoko convinced their young (i.e., easy to control) assistant that she was the safest bet to date a newly single John. Quickly the pair began what the singer would call his “Lost Weekend,” an 18-month-long whirlwind romance that took the two to the center of the madness of L.A.’s music scene, reunited a newly sober Lennon with his long-estranged son Julian, and reconnect the former Beatle to his love for rock & roll, and all as the new couple fell ever deeper in love.

Her descriptive style of writing along her sense of character development while incorporating her own personal experience in an elegant setting is what make her fictionalized stories palpable to readers. Thus, intriguing them with storylines and plot twists that literally transports them to the most beautiful places in the world in vivid illustrations as if they are there. While the general population is not able to travel or visit to certain places, ZARAH brings it straight to their doorsteps. Diamonds are for Cocktails Zarah’s 'Diamonds are For Cocktails' is a glitzy literary adventure where anything seems to go in the Côte d’Azur. Its pages transport you to the coast’s crystal-clear waters where champagne flows freely, socialites in tomorrow’s couture flock to their villas, and the rich indulge in endless pleasures. Somehow, we’re all invited to play. Mysteries are to be uncovered, but for readers, it’s all part of the escapade – one that doesn’t require renting a yacht. — Stephanie Nelasco, Fox News

GEIST - Book of Light (News Update)

(images above were A.I. generated)

So, fresh in the new year I have started getting down to the story.

The most important question for me is: ‘How do you start the new chapters?’

What is relevant to the conclusion of the trilogy? Do I bring all the characters from Book of Shadows back, and what would be their purpose and mission?

Since the finale of the Book of Shadows ended with the demise of most of the characters, I decided to bring them back although in a different form, transcending them into the spirit world.

To me, The Book of Light is an ethereal project that defies human explanation and measure.

Therefore, the songs and soundscapes that will accompany the album will build a complex esoteric web that will have to be carefully planned and thought through.

So much has happened since the early days of GEIST, that it is going to take a lot of man hours to tackle this project.

So, what’s the vision for this? I’m anxiously awaiting the spark that will put it all together, like in a fever dream.

I know one thing is for certain: It needs to be both entertaining as well as controversial.

The main thought for me is: What if there was a realm in the spirit world that will always be at war with each other, fighting for the souls of those who have ascended and need to be guided through this maze of different belief systems?

Dante’s inferno, Purgatorio and Paradiso?

When I say ‘Book of Light’ to you, what do you envision it to be?

The Holy Bible, the Quran, the Torah, the Eternal Dharma, the Dharmavinaya, Flower Power, Scientology? And what about the Atheists?

Phew, what a subject to cover. I will do my best.

Back to the drawing board for me.

Stay tuned for further updates.

Sincerely,

Martin Cole

McCartney Times News Features

Happy 80th birthday, George Harrison!

Last month we honor George by celebrating what would have been his 80th birthday, born in 1943. There was a surprise announcement from Dhani and BMG Music. All of George’s music from his solo career and his Dark Horse Records will now be distributed by BMG. All of his solo albums are now available via downloads in Dolby Atmos sound. Dhani mentions that there will be more releases that go really deep into George’s archives with new Box Sets, too! Very exciting news indeed! No time frame has been announced.George’s music continues to be a strong thread in our culture even 21 years after his passing. New generations are discovering his incredible catalogue through all new ways of receiving music. Here Comes The Sun is still the most downloaded Beatles song! When Rock stations do annual top 500 or 1000 songs of the rock era – three of George’s songs now hover near the upper reaches of the charts (Something, While My Guitar Gently Weeps and Here Comes The Sun) along side Hey Jude, Let It Be, Yesterday, In My Life and A Day in the Life, to name just a few!

Sadly, this year also saw the passing of George’s sister Louise Harrison.

A personal tribute to Louise Harrison by Dr. Angie McCartney

The sad passing of Louise Harrison has evoked memories of happier times. I didn't know her on Merseyside in the early days of my being married into the McCartney family, as she was living in the United States by then. We met later at various Beatles related functions in London, and kept in touch over the years.

After we relocated to the United States, I have a lasting memory of us all being at one of Mark and Carol Lapidos’ Fests for Beatles Fans, when Ruth and I were joined by Gerry Marsden, Pauline Sutcliffe, Alistair Taylor and Neil Innes. We were on a panel together, and something that Neil said set Louise off in a fit of the giggles that became uncontrollable, until we were all in pieces, and poor Mark Lapidos was trying to get us back in shape. It was like herding cats. We all laughed until we cried.

We did a few of those Fests, and no doubt lots of the fans will remember Louise and her stories of how she was the first person to start to bring attention to The Beatles in America, even before they had done the Ed Sullivan Show, and we all know where that took them. She used to have Brian Epstein mail her copies of their singles which she would tout to radio stations, pleading with them to play her “boys.” And for a woman to have the brass to do that in those days was quite something.

When we lived in Nashville (where we moved after the Northridge earthquake) Louise spent a few days with us at our apartment in Deerfield, and she and I went off to a Home Shopping network show in either North or South Carolina , hosted by Ken Barker. What we didn’t know was that it involved a one hour time change, and we blithely checked in to our hotel and were freshening up when Ken called us in a panic from the TV station. Oops! We dashed off and made Louise’s on-air time by the skin of her teeth.

MopTop Maple

Maple sugar has been produced from the sap of Maple trees in North America for hundreds of years. When the first Europeans arrived in the New World they found the Native inhabitants tapping the trees in order to gather the sap that was used. The Natives would then use hot stones to help evaporate the sap leaving behind Maple sugar, which they referred to as "sinzibukwud". With the influence of the Europeans, many different methods for processing the raw Maple Sugar were developed. These ranged from Maple candy to Maple syrup; mmmmmm. One of the most delicious of these is Maple Cream. It is believed that the first people to blend cream and Maple syrup lived in Vermont during the 1800's. State legend has it that the son of a prominent Maple producer chose for his wife the daughter of a local dairyman.
