Welcome to the latest edition of our company newsletter. We've had lots of both client and internal branding projects since we last wrote, and we'd love to be top of mind if you need digital expertise, branding help or anything in that realm... give us a shout!

McCartney Studios

It has been a busy few months for McCartney Studios. From recording and producing an audio book to filming a live concert, our production company had its hands full. It was with great pleasure to see all our diverse talents come to life. After all, it’s what we do best, produce, produce, produce.

Nick Marechal (Live Concert Video Production)

Project: Live Music Video shoot at the Canyon Club, Agoura Hills, CA
At the end of June we shot 2 days at the Canyon Club in Agoura Hills with Nick Marechal and his band of all stars.
Directed by Deven Parmar for McCartney Studios, we had a blast filming 9 of Nick’s songs in a live concert setting. The band was amazing! Nick Marechal, guitars & vocals, Travis Carlton on bass, John Ferraro on drums, Quinn Johnson on piano and Greg Mathieson on Hammond B3 organ. Musically, the songs ranged from Rock, Jazz, Blues and Country.
Notes from the edit bay: ‘We shot 3 takes per song and the material simply came out fantastic. Having a video song catalog with good footage like that is priceless! - even if it did create 2 Terabytes of data to sort through!’

Here’s a little bit about the artist:
In 1968, Nick Marechal was just another kid in the San Fernando Valley learning to play guitar. Elvis was a hero making a come back. Garage bands were in every neighborhood. FM radio ruled. That period provided inspiration for writing the song “Son of the Blues.” In the early 1970s Nick received lessons from the late great Ted Greene. Nick’s picking style, knowledge of chords, and an appreciation for the American songbook came from Greene. Right after high school Nick played in bar bands.
Nick's logo is based on a sound wave which forms his initials "NM".

Introducing: Stacey Nation

Growing up in a small town far from either influential American coast, Stacey Nation discovered the impact of storytelling early. Nightly news brought accounts from distant cities while library books delivered triumphant and tragic tales of the human story.

Stacey’s solo directorial debut - a stark, poetic, black & white film, “The Wagon” - screened country-wide winning 7 awards, including “Best Woman Filmmaker" from LAIFFA in 2018. Told entirely without dialogue and set against a desolate landscape, the film illustrated her strong visual storytelling skills as an emerging director.

Running large commercial productions as a 1st AD for the last decade with brands like Netflix, E!, HBO Max, L’Oreal, Hyundai & Disney Channel polished Stacey’s leadership skills, while she continues advancing in the role of director by making branded content, film, and commercials for national brands, universities, and non- profits.

Diamonds are for Cocktails (Audio Book & Video Trailer Production)

Project: Recording and editing an audio book for Author Zarah & Enigami Rednow Publishers in New York.

Spoken by the author, we recorded the audio book version of Zarah’s New Book ‘Diamonds are for Cocktails’

Here’s what it’s about:

Logline: “Diamonds are For Cocktails” is a character-driven glamorous mystery thriller about an adopted diamond jewelry heiress Camille Rogers who struggles to find meaning in life. While seeking solace and fortitude through her childhood best friend—it all takes place under the seductive playground of wealth, beauty and power in the French Riviera.

Synopsis: In a setting that permeates a decadent lifestyle, sprawls a palatial chateau across the French Riviera coastline in the Principality of Monaco. Camille Jeanne-Marie Rogers, the sole heiress to a vast multi-billion-dollar diamond jewelry empire seems to have it all.
Her life—as it turns out—is nothing more than a fantastical illusion despite the wealth and power bequeathed to her. Childhood best friend James Thomas Hughes offers a personal refuge.

Fascinating the many eyes of high societies including the most powerful elites in the Hollywood circle, the worldly pair becomes a celebrated couple. GEIST - Book of Light (Music Composition & Production)

The third and final installment of the musical trilogy is in full swing. Featuring Sardinian supertstar Patrick Abbate on lead guitar.

Song: Sacred Ground

I’ve been working on this song for quite some time now and all the pieces are coming together. However, I was in dire need of a ‘smoking’ lead guitar player for this track. It just so happened that Patrick Abbate was in L.A. all the way from Sardinia, Italy, and was kind enough to lay down mind blowing lead guitars. He did such an amazing job on ‘Sacred Ground’ that it’s going to be hard for me to pick and choose the best versions, because they are all so damn good!

Thank you Patrick for making the noise and Ruth and Angie of course for keeping up with the noise. And the catering!

All I can say is, The Book of Light is starting to become more and more real…

ABOUT CABIN FEVER

When Macy arrived at a beautiful retreat centre in the Rocky Mountains, she was expecting a relaxing marriage retreat and a quiet time to reconnect with her husband.

Her dreamy getaway ends abruptly when an old arch-rival, Carly, turns up on the same retreat. While a humorous take on marriage and old feuds, at its core, CABIN FEVER is a story about the dangers of purity culture, and how the trauma of the Evangelical church’s treatment and expectations of girls and women can haunt them for the rest of their lives.

ABOUT THE PLAYWRIGHT

Lilian Davidson McGrady (she/her/hers) is the Founder and Artistic Director of Adamson Road Theatre Company and is thrilled to be directing her play Cabin Fever as the company’s debut production.

She is also immensely grateful for the wonderful folks she gets to work with on this production, especially her stage manager, NaVada.

She is a disabled playwright. She completed her bachelor’s in Writing for Performance at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London. She is excited to be back making theatre in Chicago, her hometown.

Abbey Road Studios Documentary From Mary McCartney: Watch a Clip With Paul McCartney

Abbey Road Studios is the subject of a new documentary, directed by celebrated British photographer and filmmaker Mary McCartney. The 53-year-old photographer is the daughter of Paul McCartney and Linda McCartney. The feature length film, If These Walls Could Sing, was described in the original Jan. 12, 2021, announcement as “the untold story of the world-famous” London studios. It features interviews with Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters and David Gilmour, who famously recorded The Dark Side of the Moon there, Elton John, Kate Bush, Jimmy Page, and composer and conductor John Williams, among many others.

Brian Epstein Statue - The Guide Liverpool

Epstein, who would have been 88, became The Beatles manager in 1961, after seeing them play in the Cavern Club. The venue was just a short walk from the NEMS Record Store, which Epstein managed, and which played a vital role in the city’s music history, along with that of The Beatles.

The statue, granted planning permission in February, will stand at the corner of Button Street and Whitechapel, following the first steps of Epstein’s journey to change the fortunes of both the Fab Four and himself. His five-year deal with the band saw them become more professional and guided them not simply to the top of the music charts but also into cultural history.
