YOUR MOTHER SHOULD KNOW

"Your Mother Should Know" is Angie McCartney's collection of stores about her life (and her daughter Ruth's life) as Paul McCartney's step mother. Her stories and musings are funny, romantic, sad, positive, inspirational, wise, witty, and simply fascinating. Now 90 years old, Angie takes you from her beginnings in Liverpool during World War II, through her romance with Paul's father Jim, Beatlemania, to life after The Beatles in Australia, Germany, Nashville, and Los Angeles. Angie's book has QR codes included throughout the book, making it a fun and interactive read.

Personally autographed by Dr. Angie McCartney!
(Please enter the name of the person in the special instructions box during checkout.)

"I literally couldn’t put this book down and read it straight through. Angie McCartney has led a life most of us can only dream of. If you’re a Beatles fan, this is a must-read. If you’re attracted to stories about people with strength of purpose, this deserves a key spot on your reading list. If you love books that leave you with a great big “wow!” this is definitely for you. Well done, Mrs. McCartney! Well done!"

"As the only Beatle parent still alive, 90-year-old Angie McCartney has a perspective on life, love and the Beatles that cannot be replicated. I especially enjoyed the stories of her youth, growing up in war-torn Britain and her resilience in the face of adversity. And of course, there's her great Beatles stories. I highly recommend this book."

"Angie McCartney has led a truly amazing life and has packed a lot of living in her 90 years. Your Mother Should Know is a book is full of fascinating stories about growing up in Britain, her life with husband Jim McCartney (Paul's dad) and daughter Ruth, plenty of stories about the Beatles years and what she is currently up to with her celebrity pals, her successful wine and tea businesses and her life back in the USA. Her great sense of humor is reflected in these pages. There are also links to family and other videos that are fun to see. Wonderful book Mrs. McCartney!"

Is Your Website ADA Compliant?

Accessibility is the law. 20% of all global internet users have some type of disability which excludes them from 97% of all websites. Don’t leave yourself wide open like DOMINO’S PIZZA did when they lost their appeal case after the Supreme Court kicked the case back down to the 9th circuit and the blind Mr. Guillermo Robles scored a victory for people with disabilities. On 10.7.19, the 9 Justices ruled that people with disabilities can now SUE retailers. Read here.

WASHINGTON

The Supreme Court cleared the way Monday for blind people to sue Domino’s Pizza and other retailers if their websites are not accessible.

In a potentially far-reaching move, the justices turned down an appeal from Domino’s and let stand a U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruling holding that the Americans With Disabilities Act protects access not just to restaurants and stores but also to the websites and apps of those businesses.

Mending Kids Charity Gala

We were honoured to be invited to The Skirball Center back in January by GTomMac and Dr. Renee Kaswan, to be a part of this wonderful evening raising funds for Mending Kids. The evening featured some incredible music by Chapel Hart from New Orleans, and the inimitable Brit rockstar GTomMac. A couple of weeks after the Gala, Ruth used her 60th birthday to raise Facebook donations which have been sent to help support the good works of facial, nasal, cleft and cranial surgeries on kids from not only the USA, but all over the world.

Mending Kids provides free life-saving surgical care to sick children worldwide by deploying volunteer medical teams and educating communities to become medically self-sustaining.

Their volunteer medical teams donate their time and services
to care for children while educating local medical staff.

HOW IT ALL STARTED...

The vibrant and significant history of Mending Kids International began with our founder and devoted full-time volunteer Cris Embleton almost 30 years ago. After the tragic passing of Cris' adopted daughter just prior to her first birthday, when $5 worth of medicine would have saved her life, Cris set out to make certain children around the world had access to life-saving surgeries and medical care.
By building relationships with local hospitals in Southern California and third world physicians, Cris was able to bring children to the United States for surgery and provide treatment to others through annual medical missions abroad. She formed her own international non-profit organization, Healing the Children - which is now running in 14 states!
In order to expand the mission in California, Cris and her local Board of Directors broke away in 2005 to form Mending Kids International. Cris will always be such a special part of our daily mission to help children around the world receive transformational surgeries to live normal and fun childhoods! These ladies have been running these interesting shows for over a year now, highlighting women, young and not so young, who have taken a chance and gone out on a limb to start their own businesses.

Follow them, also on Tuesdays:

In Memoriam

May of this year saw the passing of 3 iconic legends. From Little Richard and Astrid Kirchherr to Fred Willard.
We’ve taken a moment to remember these geniuses.

Little Richard, a founding father of rock and roll whose fervent shrieks, flamboyant garb, and joyful, gender-bending persona embodied the spirit and sound of that new art form, died Saturday. He was 87. The musician’s son, Danny Penniman, confirmed the pioneer’s death to Rolling Stone, but said the cause of death was unknown.

Legendary Beatles photographer and collaborator Astrid Kirchherr has died, aged 81.

Beatles historian Mark Lewisohn revealed the news on Twitter, calling Kirchherr “intelligent, inspirational, innovative, daring, artistic, awake, aware, beautiful, smart, loving and uplifting.” German publication Die Zeit have also confirmed the news.

And last but not least, and certainly funniest, our friend and client, the dear, sweet and at all times HILARIOUS Fred Willard was called Home to be with his bride Mary, who passed 2 years ago. We will always treasure the times we spent at their home eating, drinking, laughing, goofing off in the 4th of July Family Play, marching round their tennis court in our stars and stripes get ups, and attending their favourite charity fundraisers with them. Fred will make heaven a place of more mirth, that is for SURE. We love you Fred. Godspeed.

Frederick Charles Willard (September 8, 1933[a] – May 15, 2020) was an American actor, comedian and writer. He was best known for his roles in the Rob Reiner mockumentary film This Is Spinal Tap; the Christopher Guest mockumentaries Waiting for GuffmanBest in ShowA Mighty WindFor Your Consideration and Mascots; and the Anchorman films.

Riverside Community Hospital’s Red Dress Gala

Our own Ruth McCartney was the Emcee and Host at this year’s Riverside Community Hospital’s Red Dress Gala. Two weeks prior to the Coronavirus outbreak, Ruth, along with Edgar Santos (Make-Up Artist to The Stars) brought the glam to Riverside. The event producer Cherie Crutcher had us accommodated nicely at The Mission Inn in historic downtown Riverside.

The event, which was held in the Riverside Convention Center saw more than 1,000 people in attendance. The gala, which focused on generational heart disease awareness, had almost all of its participants dressed in Red.
